Measurement methods and equipment for characterizing material properties

NORCE has extensive experience in developing measurement methods and equipment for characterizing material properties, whether it concerns gases, liquids or solids. NORCE has developed a wide range of methods for characterizing complex materials such as multiphase mixtures, especially based on acoustic, electromagnetic, gamma-ray, and optical sensors.

Examples of material properties that can be measured are density and permittivity of gases and liquids. Additionally, the calorific value of hydrocarbon gas, water salinity and salt composition, water content in snow and soil, and dissolved carbon dioxide in water can also be measured.

Application areas include petroleum, aquaculture, and environmental monitoring.
