Eg er klinisk psykolog og forskar I med utdanning og doktorgrad fra Psykologisk fakultet ved Universitetet i Bergen. Doktorgraden min omhandla tidleg biologisk risiko og sped- og småbarns utvikling og var basert på data fra eit randomisert kontrollert studie i India. Min forskningsinteresse er innan tidleg utvikling og psykisk helse, biologiske og sosiale risiko faktorar og epidemiologisk forsking. Eg er involvert i studiar både i lavinntektsland som Nepal og India og i Norge.

Som forskar har eg opparbeida meg breidd erfaring med gjennomføring av randomiserte kontrollerte studiar på sped- og småbarn, med ei spesiell ekspertise i tidleg utvikling som utfallsmål. I Nepal og India har eg vært delaktig i store kliniske forsøk med fokus på ernæring og tidleg utvikling og vekst. Eg er også del av den multinasjonale studien LongSTEP som undersøker effekten av musikkterapi for premature på det emosjonelle båndet til mor og på tidleg utvikling. I norsk samanheng har eg også bidratt inn i ulike kliniske forsøk som undersøker effekten av mor og barns diett på spedbarns utvikling og kognisjon hos førskulebarn.

Eg har også ei spesiell interesse for å utvikle og gjennomføre prosjekt i tett samarbeid med tenester for barn og unge i Norge. Eksempel på slike prosjekt er Veien til Selvstendighet studien på einslege mindreårige flyktningar i Bergen kommune og Sammen mot mobbing, eit tiltaksprogram for å forebygge, avdekke og handtere mobbing i norske barnehagar.
