Dr. Md Hujjatul Islam is a researcher at the Energy Modeling and Automation group in NORCE since May 2023. His current research focus on Clean Energy Transition (CET) with special emphasis on hydrogen production and carbon capture and utilization (CCU). He uses electrochemical, sonochemical and sonoelectrochemical methods for developing innovative processes in Clean Energy Transition. He is the inventor of the Islam-Pollet-Hihn process where he developed the room temperature and pressure Sabatier reaction in the absence of catalyst using power ultrasound only.
Dr. Islam has finished his PhD in April 2021 under the supervision of Prof. Bruno Pollet and Prof. Odne Burheim from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Norway and Prof. Jean-Yves Hihn from the University of France-Comte, Besancon, France. After his PhD, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry in the University of Toronto where he worked on developing advanced alkaline stable low cost electrocatalyst for AEM electrolyser. Besides this, he has two MSc degrees in Chemical and Process Engineering (LUT University, 2017) and Textile Engineering (Politecnico Di Torino, 2014) and a BSc degree in Textile Engineering (Politecnico di Torino, 2012).
