Geothermal energy is local and environmentally friendly energy that can be utilized as a heat source, for cooling or power generation.

NORCE contributes nationally to developing and demonstrating geothermal plants, often as integrated energy solutions where the bedrock or groundwater is utilized as heat source or energy storage.

NORCE is active internationally in developing geothermal solutions. Here, experience from 50 years of offshore petroleum operations is combined with leading expertise in energy efficiency and low-emission communities. [New paragraph]

NORCE heads the national network Norwegian Center for Geothermal Energy Research (CGER) and participates in the European networks, European Geothermal Energy Research EGEC and EERA JP Geothermal.

NORCE is also a Norwegian International Geothermal Association (IGA) ambassador.
