NORCE’s core competencies in electromagnetism include modeling and simulation, flow measurement, material characterization, sensor design and analysis, dielectric spectroscopy, wireless communication, microwave technology, and electronics design.
In our work, we combine EM expertise with advanced simulation tools and experimental work. We work closely with our customers to develop prototypes based on their needs, to optimize their existing products, or to analyze their EM-related problems. Additionally, we have a long tradition of researching new measurement solutions in collaboration with the University of Bergen.
Some examples of key application areas of our research in EM include:
- Real-time measurement of water fraction and salinity in multiphase flow
- Detection of impurities in gas using microwave technology
- Measurement of water content and profile in various materials (e.g., soil, snow)
- Propagation of electromagnetic signals in complex geometries
