I am a researcher at NORCE Space & Energy Technology. My interests include the solid oxide fuel cell and electrolyser, but also other types of hydrogen technology with applications both for space and terrestrial use. Our current research focus on developing technology for energy storage, fuel and oxygen production for future Mars explorations. We aim to collect the CO2 from the Martian atmosphere and extract oxygen and carbon monoxide using a high temperature electrolyser. These reactants can later be converted back to electric energy in periods where the main power production from solar panels is limited, or they can be further converted to rocket fuel for returning from Mars. Our research is funded through the European Space Agency's exploration programs.
