Christos Sakaris is a Mechanical Engineer and works as a researcher/scientist in the Data, AI, and Robotics (DARWIN) research group of NORCE since 2021. He received his Diploma (a combination of bachelor and master) in Mechanical Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thesaloniki, Greece (2009) and his PhD in vibration-based Structural Health Monitoring (SHM), from the University of Patras, Greece (2018). He has worked in the Liverpool Logistics, Offshore and Marine (LOOM) Research Institute of the Liverpool John Moores University, UK. His research experience includes processing of vibration signals in the time and frequency domain, structural / modal analysis via data-based statistical models and diagnosis (detection, identification, localization, quantification) of damages / faults via machine learning methods. He has applied successfully his SHM knowledge on various types of structures including truss structure, aircraft skeleton, aircraft vertical stabilizer, floating offshore wind turbines, chain / fibre rope mooring lines, fish farm cages, wooden telecommunication poles and ski-lift masts. His current research interests include vibration-based diagnosis and prognosis (estimation of the remaining useful life) with statistical models in mooring lines and railway bridges.
