I am a microbiologist working in the Industrial Biotechnology group, where my focus lies in the valorization of various industrial residues to develop innovative and sustainable solutions for science, society, and industry. My work involves transforming these residues into valuable products through microbial fermentation, contributing to a circular bioeconomy. My core competence lies in screening and identifying microorganisms capable of effectively valorizing different types of industrial waste. One of the key projects I am currently leading is funded by the Agriculture Directorate (FFL/JA). In this project, I am utilizing algal residues—left over after alginate extraction—alongside greenhouse gases to develop a protein-enriched ingredient intended for livestock feed. As part of this effort, I will also work on using greenhouse gases such as methane and carbon dioxide to grow microorganisms that can serve as bio-based resources.
