Maritime operations

In the forefront of maritime applications

At NORCE we are leveraging our extensive expertise and innovative technologies to enhance maritime operations. Our projects include advanced vessel tracking systems, decision support tools for rescue operations, sophisticated wave forecasting, and cutting-edge energy management solutions for ships. We also focus on developing offshore charging solutions for wind farm vessels.

We invite collaboration to further research and develop groundbreaking solutions in maritime operations.

We have extensive experience in tracking vessels based on Automatic Identification System (AIS) messages, which has been developed into a operational system NAIS provided by the Norwegian Coastal Administration. NAIS shows all vessels in Norwegian waters, apart from fishing vessels under 15 meters and recreational vessels under 45 meters.

We have developed SARA the main decision support tool for the Norwegian Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centres. We have extensive experience with satellite and remote sensing, and have developed, operate, and continue to develop a wave forecasting system for the Norwegian Coastal Administration.

In the RAIDAR project we are using physics-informed neural-networks for prediction of ocean waves. We are developing digital twins for better energy management for ships driven by fuel cells and batteries in the HyEff project.

We are also involved in the Ocean Charger project which develop offshore charging of ships, with a particular focus on ship operation offshore wind farms.
