The goal of MuPSI is to provide practical and easy-to-use methods that help manage safety risks in large underground CO2 storage projects that involve multiple sites. The project focuses on improving early decisions by better understanding how pressure builds up underground and how this may affect faults, potential leakage, and the risk of small earthquakes across entire storage regions.
MuPSI brings together information from large regional areas, individual storage projects, and specific geological faults into one consistent approach. This makes it possible to identify risks earlier, plan storage operations more safely, and avoid unnecessary costs and delays.
By delivering open tools and tested workflows based on real-world examples, MuPSI supports the safe, efficient expansion of CO2 storage to the large scale needed for climate goals.
