Rune Schlanbusch works as Chief Scientist and Deputy Head of the Data, AI, and Robotics (DARWIN) research group. He previously served as CTO for the spin-off company Machine Prognostics. Rune holds a master’s degree in Space Technology from HiN/UiT and a PhD in Engineering Cybernetics from NTNU. His daily work focuses on condition monitoring of machines, equipment, and infrastructure through developing new sensor technologies, monitoring and inspection systems, control systems, and robotic solutions. to improve operations and maintenance.

He has participated in several major national and international research projects and research centers, including the SFI Offshore Mechatronics, the IKTPluss projects AIMWind and PHMHydro, the capacity-building project ImpactWind, the Green Platform project for optimizing maintenance and repair of floating offshore wind turbines, and the EU project StorHy (innovative hydropower storage technology and operations). Rune contributes as an expert in condition monitoring in the IEA Wind Task 49 Reference Floating Wind Array Design Basis, serves on the management committee of the COST Action Pan-European Network for Sustainable Hydropower, and holds coordination responsibility for offshore wind in the Energy and Technology division at NORCE.
