Mia Masiha Kakar-Afzali currently holds a position as researcher at the Norwegian Research Centre (NORCE) in Oslo. She has bachelor’s in Political Science and master’s in Energy, Environment and Society from the University of Stavanger. Her thesis was based on “Circular Economy in Offshore Wind Turbine Blades: National and Industry End-of-Life Regulations and Plans”. She particularly looked at the role of circular economy within the waste management option for wind turbine blades. She also mapped the waste and decommissioning regulations in Norway and EU, in addition to industry strategies.
At current Kakar-Afzali is working on projects related to offshore wind with thematics related to energy justice and nature-inclusive designs, circularity within the aquaculture industry, and innovation and growth within the health sector in Rogaland.
