Knut Grove´s research activities are divided between Labor history and Local and regional History. The Labor History tradition is as a research field also part of industrial relations, with a multidisciplinary approach stressing the working life´s institutions as well as the working place itself. Grove´s works includes studies of industrial workers, high school teachers and different organizations (especially unions), combining Labor History and the study of professions. In local and regional studies, his works deals with different societal levels, using theories and concepts from different disciplines. Another central field is historiography. Grove has been associated with the Department of Archaeology, Cultural Studies and Religion at the University of Bergen as Program Coordinator and Associate Professor.
