Course: Introduction to multiphase flow metering
Source:
Hermann Angell Myrseth Solheim
Riggen på Fantoft
We will arrange a course on multiphase flow metering February 18-20, 2025. The venue will be the NORCE offices in Bergen, partly at the main office in Nygårdsgaten and partly at Fantoft.
The course will give a thorough introduction to multiphase flow metering and related topics.
We are covering a variety of meter application areas, basic understanding of multiphase flow and detailed explanations of relevant measurement technologies. We’ll also give some examples of commercially available multiphase flow meters.
Rough outline:
- Background and applications
- Multiphase flow and fluids
- Which flow regimes can be expected?
- Demonstration of flow regimes in flow loop
- PVT
- Measurement technologies and building blocks
- Examples of solutions/multiphase meters
- Measurement uncertainty
- How to choose a multiphase meter
- Testing, installation, operation and maintenance
What will we do?
- Presentations and discussions: The course instructor will guide you through different topics using ordinary classroom lectures. All participants are encouraged to ask questions and share any experiences related to multiphase flow metering.
- Exercises: We solve exercises where we calculate which flow regimes we can expect to occur at various conditions
- Demonstration: We’ll have a demonstration of various flow regimes in the NORCE multiphase flow rig.
Who should participate?
The target group for the course is technical personnel working with, or expected to work with multiphase flow meters, as well as managers and decision makers with a need to understand the technology. Previously, participants from operators, technology suppliers and research establishments have participated.
