Experts on high-temperature processes

NORCE has expertise in process metallurgy, especially for high-temperature processes, both for reductions processes and refining and casting processes. Multiphysics models are frequently used: Combination of two or more topics like electric heating (resistance or induction), temperature distribution, reactions, particulate, gas and/or liquid flow, and/or mechanical stresses.

One specialty is understanding effects of 3-phase alternating currents in large submerged arc furnaces.

The competency also includes measurement technology and online measurements (temperature, level, composition and electromagnetic fields) in harsh environments (extreme temperatures and smoke etc.)
