Autonomus systems
Autonomous systems are machines that operate independently. NORCE uses this type of technology to take measurements, often in extreme environments such as the Arctic, Antarctic, or at sea. The measurements are used for research purposes or to improve weather forecasts.
We have previously developed, among other things, drifting buoys, ICEX (air-dropped meteorological instrument), and ES300 (sonar for icebergs). We have brought these experiences into the development of the Seilbuoy, and now also into an electrically powered surface drone (Unmanned Surface Vehicle, USV).
NORCE has extensive experience with measurement platforms for use in the sea and Arctic waters.
