I work mainly with monitoring, research, impact assessment and mitigating measures with the goal of improving conservation status of salmonids in rivers and lakes, as well as the ecological status of fresh water bodies as classified by the EU Water Framework Directive. Methods include drift counting of salmonid spawning stocks, electric fishing, habitat mapping, environmental design, kick sampling of invertebrates, and assessment of water quality. Impacts of hydropower installations, aquaculture, predation, fishing, and physical alteration of rivers are central topics in my research.
