The Ocean and Coastal Research Group, on behalf of the Norwegian Coastal Administration, provides national, high-resolution forecasts for strong tidal currents along the Norwegian coast. These forecasts are made available for maritime transport, leisure activities, and industry through the Coastal Forecast Centre and BarentsWatch.

Wave Forecast

NORCE provides current forecasts displayed on barentswatch.no, an integrated information system for Norwegian ocean and coastal areas.

Historical Current Forecasts

Historical forecasts of currents for selected tidal inlets in Norway. provided by the Coastal Forecast Centre.

Operational current forecasts have been established for the following areas Sortlandssundet, Tjeldsundet, Raftssundet, Gimsøysundet, Moskstraumen, Saltstraumen, Vatlestraumen and Karmsundet.
