The Voss model - reablement

The Voss model - reablement

Reablement is a new model of rehabilitation with a rapid growth in Norwegian municipalities. It is a time-limited and multidisciplinary home-based rehabilitation.

It is primarily older adults with functional decline who are the target group for the intervention. An occupational therapist, physiotherapist and the home-care services collaborate with the older person in training and adaptation in order to improve the person`s independence in daily activities. It is the older adult who defines the rehabilitation goals.

Implementation of reablement in Voss is a collaboration between Voss municipality, Bergen University College, Center for Care Research Western Norway, The Centre for Development of Institutional and Home Care Services in Hordaland, Voss Hospital (Helse Bergen), and the Norwegian Federation of Organisations of Disabled People.
