Risk-resilient aquaculture: Balancing profitability with environmental sustainability in investment and operations under uncertainty (AquaRisk)

Risk-resilient aquaculture: Balancing profitability with environmental sustainability in investment and operations under uncertainty (AquaRisk)

The AquaRisk project develops tools and models to help the aquaculture industry make investment and operational decisions that align profitability with environmental sustainability. By combining advanced risk analysis, environmental impact assessment, and strategic planning, the project provides new frameworks to manage uncertainty related to market fluctuations, biological risks, and environmental effects.

NORCE contributes expertise in aquaculture economics and markets, with a particular focus on mapping and analyzing the environmental impacts of aquaculture companies in Norway. The goal is to provide better decision support for industry actors and investors to foster sustainable industry growth.

The project has a total budget of NOK 12 million and is funded by the Research Council of Norway. AquaRisk will help build public trust in the industry, support the adoption of greener technologies, and offer guidance for designing effective, sustainability-oriented regulations.
