Markus Hittmeir is a data scientist in NORCE Analytics, a team of data scientists and data engineers working across the research divisions in NORCE.

Markus studied Mathematics at the University of Salzburg and received his PhD in 2018. From 2019 to 2023, he worked at SBA Research in Vienna. His research interests concern various topics in algorithmic number theory, cryptography, data privacy, synthetic data and machine learning. He led the project "Gene Anonymization and Synthetization for Privacy" and developed privacy-preserving solutions for researching microbiome data. Markus also holds a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy.
As member of NORCE Analytics, Markus works on the development of applications and services for NORCE's data platform. His particular focus is on building and maintaining knowledge graph databases. In addition, his current research in the FRIPRO-project "Integer Factorization and Related Cryptographical Problems" concerns algorithmic problems that are used in cryptographical applications, such as integer factorization, the subset-sum and the shortest vector problem.
