The Observing Systems Department develops remote sensing methodologies, systems, and models for collecting and analyzing data on infrastructure, natural resources, ocean conditions, operational support, and resource utilization.

This includes the use of satellites, drones, sensor networks, and advanced models to collect data on land and at sea and coastal areas. The goal is to provide near real-time operational support and big data analysis for more accurate prediction and forecasting.
