The Institute of Marine Research (IMR) and NORCE are both research institutions with significant activity related to the sea. The agreement aims to facilitate increased collaboration between the parties, especially research related to marine environments, coastal zones, and aquaculture in coastal and fjord areas, as well as in open waters.
Camilla Stoltenberg of NORCE looks forward to closer collaboration with IMR.
– Research environments in NORCE and IMR already have established collaborations. By formalizing this work, we can to an even greater extent utilize each other's facilities and infrastructures. This simplifies the collection and analysis of data, giving us a better understanding of marine issues and ultimately contributing to a more sustainable exploitation of marine resources.
– Collaboration provides a better and broader basis for ideas and increases the chances that one plus one will be more than two. NORCE and IMR already have some good projects together. A more formalized collaboration helps us strengthen ourselves in areas where we have common ambitions and see that we can complement each other well," says Nils Gunnar Kvamstø of IMR.
The agreement enables a more rational exploration of marine resources nationally and internationally. This will be achieved by mutually being able to draw on the expertise, data sets, and technological infrastructures covered by the agreement.
This includes:
• Project collaboration
• Utilization of infrastructure and experimental facilities
• Exchange of relevant data
• Joint external events
