Making the Green Wave Blue

Together with the University of Bergen, NORCE - Norwegian Research Centre AS is hosting a joint half day seminar in Brussels.
At this event, we will be launching our joint position paper: Making the Green Wave Blue: Costal and Arctic ocean research & innovation for a sustainable future.
Here we will present our shared key messages concerning ocean-related research for the next strategic plan for Horizon Europe.
Achieving the goals set for a green transition will require huge investments in research and innovation, particularly in "blue", that is ocean-related, R&I across the broad range of multi- and interdisciplinary collaboration. In particular, the EU’s overarching goal of climate neutrality by 2050 cannot be achieved without a significant attention to coastal ocean space and the Arctic.
The event will discuss the needed efforts in R&I on the co-use of the ocean space, use versus conservation, and a possible future scenario of an ice-free Arctic. The programme is filled with engaging panel discussions with experts from various fields and will shed light on the complexity of ocean research but also on the major impact it has on all areas of society.
