Transform - Local transformation towards a low-emission society

The aim of this project is to:

1) Investigate how long-term transformation from a fossil-based economy to a low-emission society may play out in municipalities given their roles as key social actors, public service providers, planning authorities, and social entrepreneurs

2) unpack the radical and fundamental forms of changes required to ensure a lowemission society from the perspective of municipalities

3) address how to increase the actors’ scope for action through a focus on barriers to and potentials for municipalities to transform

4) do research that will contribute to a better understanding of transformative change processes towards low-emission societies in general; 4) building on, re-analysing and applying findings from previous research on and with municipalities with a particular focus on development of transformation processes,

5) be fundamentally interdisciplinary with highly experienced researchers, and by being led by an early-career, experienced female researcher to ensure recruitment to the field.
