Electrical Conditions and their Process Interactions in High Temperature Metallurgical Reactors (ElMet)

ElMet is a competence project to establish a detailed understanding of how the conditions in an electrical smelting furnace are influenced by 3-phase alternating current:

- Current paths and power distribution

- Temperature distribution

- Chemical reactions

Duration: 5 years, 2015-2020

Financing: 80 % The Research Council of Norway (BIA KPN)

Project owner: NORCE

Industrial partners (20 % financing): Elkem, Eramet

Research partners: NTNU, University of Oxford, University of Santiago de Compostela.
