I am a Biologist with a master’s in environmental sciences, I have ten years of experience working in laboratories at universities in the UK and in Norce. I work as a Research Technician in the Industrial Biotechnology group. We carry out projects that contribute to improving the quality of the natural environment by transforming a waste product into a useful product utilising microbial fermentation.

I am responsible for ensuring that the laboratories are properly equipped for daily operations, in compliance with health, safety and environmental related legislation and ISO standards. I operate many pieces of laboratory equipment, ensure that they are in good condition, and therefore the data or product are reliable and of good quality.
I also support research by applying my experience in Microbiology and Molecular Biology. I take and analyse samples during the fermentations so we can control the growth of the microorganisms, and control waste disposal.

In addition, I perform administrative tasks such as writing procedures for different activities in the laboratories, risk assessments of activities, laboratories and equipment, and purchase of consumables and equipment.

Furthermore, I am responsible for the surveillance for Legionella sp. in public buildings in the Stavanger region. This work involves taking water samples in public buildings. I grow the samples in sterile conditions to check for the presence of this bacteria, which is Class 2.

I have had the opportunity to work in different disciplines, from nutrition to cancer and ecology and evolution of insects. I have contributed significantly to research and examples of papers can be seen below.
