I am a molecular and microbiologist fascinated by the great potential of utilizing photosynthetic aquatic microbes for transitioning to a circular bioeconomy.

I hold a PhD in Molecular Life Sciences (2021) and a master's degree in Molecular Systems Biology (2017), both from the University of Turku, Finland.

I have experience conducting both fundamental and applied research projects related to the regulation of photosynthesis and the application of Nordic microalgae strains for high-lipid yield and bioremediation. During this experience, I have actively employed molecular biology, genetic engineering, biophysics and bioinformatics tools to understand the interactions between solar energy conversion and carbon assimilation of the cells.

In my current position in the Marine Biotechnology group at NORCE, my research focuses on establishing and applying molecular tools for rational metabolic engineering of microalgae to increase biomass and/or the yield of numerous biotechnological products such as high-value fatty acids.
