Petra Langebroek, Research Professor in NORCE, has become a member of The Norwegian Scientific Academy for Polar Research. Langebroeks inclusion as a member is a testament to her long and distinguished career in the field of polar research.

– I am very excited to join this prestigious Academy. It is an honour to be nominated and then also elected! says Petra.

– I have been working on polar topics for almost 20 years now. One thing I really value about polar science is that this needs to be done in a (inter)national team. Being part of the Polar Academy will give me a chance to enlarge my polar network, while I also hope to bring fresh connections and ideas into the Academy.

Petra's research evolves around ice sheets, and especially the interactions between ice sheets and the rest of the climate system. She has, for example, studied the (in)stability of the Antarctic Ice Sheet and the evolution of the Greenland Ice Sheet.
