NORCE has long experience within both theoretical and practical control systems, modeling of systems and processes for control tasks, and system simulations for optimizing a process in an early design phase. Our competence is from simple linear control theory to non-linear control theory and condition estimator design, where modelling of the system is exploited for fast, accurate and robust control and dynamical model-based predictions. The dynamical systems can have continuous, discrete or hybrid sets of values.
NORCE has experience with modelling and control for several applications within chemical and metallurgical process industry, dynamical systems like vessels, airplanes, multirotors, satelites and swarms. For maritime industries there are typical heave, pitch and/or roll compensation projects and can also involve a feed forward loop with wave estimates for improved performance. Sailbouy, Greenfish and CryoWing are examples of NORCE projects with navigation and steering of unmanned surface vessels (USV) and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV).
