Vulnerable groups

Sist oppdatert: Sep 7, 2021

Inequality in health may be associated with marginalization and social exclusion. Vulnerable patient groups are especially exposed. That is why research about marginality is relevant for clinical practice. Researchers at the Research Unit for General Practice in Bergen (AFE) are conducting research projects about children as next of kin, sexual orientation and health, depression, and medically unexplained disorders.

We represent a critical approach combined with resource perspectives, developing knowledge to be implemented in general practice as well as theoretical perspectives about power relations and health. Different research methods and designs are used, with data drawn from for example big population studies and registers, surveys, focus group studies and individual semistructured interviews.
