Successful implementation of smart city initiatives largely depends on learning, interaction and collaboration across institutional and sectorial borders, including the involvement and mobilization of businesses, interest groups, communities and people. This necessitates new forms of management and decision-making processes that redefines the traditional administrative role of local and regional authorities.
This conference session will explore how Nordic municipalities can embrace this new role, and how they engage in various governance processes (projects and networks) to accelerate implementation of smart city initiatives.
The session will explore 1) ongoing innovation processes in smart city projects involving multi-stakeholder participation, and 2) the value/benefits of participating in smart-city networks at different geographical levels. Finally, this session target decision-makers in public and private sector, particularly at local and regional levels.
